DRAFT STANDARD : AS 5438:2025, Interoperability Requirements for Inverter Energy Systems
This draft Australian Standard defines local interoperability, communications, testing and conformance requirements for inverter energy systems connected at low voltage. It aims to enable secure, plug‑and‑play coordination of solar, batteries and bidirectional EVs with on‑site energy management systems, aligned with AS/NZS 4777 and CSIP‑AUS. AEMC DRAFT REPORT : The Pricing Review
The AEMC's Pricing Review (Electricity Pricing for a Consumer-Driven Future) examines the important role that electricity pricing and the interactions between CER investment and operation and broader economic regulatory outcomes. A draft report was published on 11 December 2025, proposing major reforms to network pricing principles including a shift to fixed price cost recovery for most network charges, combined with dynamic pricing.

AEMC DRAFT REPORT : Review of the Integrated System Plan Framework
Commenced in late 2025, this review evaluates the entire ISP framework, including how CER and battery storage are integrated into long-term system planning. A consultation paper was released on 18 December 2025. Submission closed 19 February 2026.

AEMO DRAFT REPORT : Draft 2026 Integrated System Plan (ISP)
On 10 December 2025, AEMO published its latest draft ISP for consultation, ahead of the final 2026 ISP in June 2026. Developed under the NER, the ISP presents the least-cost roadmap for generation, storage and transmission infrastructure in the NEM to supply secure and reliable electricity and meet government policies to 2050. Submission closed on 13 February 2026.

AEMC CONSULTATION PAPER : Optimising contingency size in dispatch
In November 2025, the AEMC consulted on proposed reforms to contingency FCAS arrangements, including optimising contingency size in dispatch and introducing “runway” cost allocation. The proposals aim to improve market efficiency and cost reflectivity, with implications for batteries, demand response and other fast‑responding resources.
